Sequel to “The Great Power Failure”
Carolyn had a very violent dream after all the events which had
happened since the ship of the Flying
Dutchman had lain at anchor. She had found herself swept up in the arms
of Captain Gregg. She could feel him, his body so near hers, his
fingers tracing her cheek, burning hot kisses into her neck. He
whispered such lovely words in her ears, Carolyn could no longer resist
him, her desire to make love with Daniel getting stronger and stronger.
Suddenly she felt his lips on hers. His kiss became even more intensified. Her resistance disappeared still further. She felt the sensation of Daniel's kiss. Suddenly she was lifted up in his arms and he carried her to the bed and laid her down.
But before the full erotic sensation swept over her, Carolyn woke up with a burning face. She sat straight in her bed now. What a violent dream. She could feel how the heat crept in her. What had aroused such a dream? Could it be that she had wanted to touch the Captain when he had felt helpless as that prison ship had lain at anchor here? No, that couldn't be. She had promised him never again make use of his powerlessness. But she had crossed her fingers behind her back when she had made this promise. 'Oh, Carolyn, really!' she thought.
The bed could no longer hold her. Carolyn needed some fresh air to keep her heat and emotions down. She got up and went out to the french door onto the balcony. It was very early in the morning. She felt the cold wind surrounded her. But her internal heat wouldn't go. Her desire began to grow again. 'Carolyn, don't be silly. You can't touch him. that's impossible. Oh, BLAST! I want to be in his arms.' Carolyn thoughts swirled in her head. She could no longer think clearly. Suddenly she felt a cold shower creep over her body.
Daniel stood invisible in the corner of the balcony and watched her. 'Why is she up so early this morning?' he thought. He couldn't wait any longer, he must find out what bothered her. He couldn't know that Carolyn had had a very violent dream about him. He materialized few steps away from her. "Good morning, Mrs Muir. What are you doing here outside so early this morning? You should go inside, you could catch a cold in your thin nighty." he said, with concern in his voice.
Only now Carolyn did notice that Daniel was there. "Oh, good morning, Captain. I couldn't sleep any longer. I needed some fresh air. And I don't feel the cold." Why not tell him her dream? 'No, you can't do that, Carolyn. What will he think of you?'
Daniel noticed her agitation but didn't say a word about that subject. Suddenly he felt the same sensation of holding Carolyn in his arms. 'Daniel, forget that thought. You can't touch her. That's impossible. Oh BLAST! Think, she is a silly female. You have sworn to never let a female near to you. Why has she come into your life? You are the master of this ship and you can live without her perfectly well. You have managed that for over hundred years.' now his thoughts swirled, too. What was it? Why couldn't he get her out of his mind? She was such a typical female with all the faults and so irritating. Before the emotion swept over him, he vanished abruptly out of her sight.
'Oh, BLAST!' Carolyn cried again in her thoughts when she noticed the Captain was gone without saying a further word. Now the cold feeling of the wind crept again over her body. So she went back into her bedroom but not in her bed. Later that day she had completely forgotten about her dream and her feelings after that. She sat before her typewriter and was working on a new story. After two hours, she had finished her story.
Now she needed some fresh air again. So she went out to the balcony and looked out to the sea. Suddenly the thoughts of her dream were back. She couldn't believe that she had had such a violent dream last night. Carolyn thoughts swirled again. She tried an analysis of her dream. What was wrong with her? What could have caused that dream? Was it because she wanted to be in the Captain's arms? She was a female, with all desires like other females. She wanted to be loved again. But she knew that was impossible. The Captain couldn't ever touch her or hold her in his arms or even kiss her like in her dream.
'Oh, come on, Carolyn, stop your silly thoughts. No, I can't.' she wanted to cry it out loud but couldn't do it. 'Carolyn, what's the matter with you? Maybe it would be best if you would leave Gull Cottage forever. No, you can't do that, it isn't fair to your children. They love the house like you do. And they like the Captain. But, what about you, Carolyn? You like the Captain, too, and more than that, you love him. Oh, BLAST!'
Carolyn couldn't know that Daniel
had watched her again. He didn't know
why, but he had the feeling that she wanted to leave Gull Cottage. He
couldn't let her go.
He loved her but he would never admit it aloud, only to himself. Was it
fair to her, holding her back from a normal human life? Oh, BLAST! You
must talk to her. Now or never, before it is to late.' he materialized
beside her. Mrs. Muir noticed him and felt him so near that she almost
could have
touched him. "Good
afternoon, Captain."
"Good afternoon, my dear." he wanted to say something more but how? Suddenly a blasted sensation crept over his body as if his blood would pulsate. What was it? Why did he feel that way? He knew he had no blood in his veins that could pulsate. But what was it then? He knew exactly what it was. It was the nearness of her that caused such feeling in him. 'No Daniel!' his thoughts cried. 'You can't do this, it wouldn't be fair to her and to you. You must make some distance between each of you.' He wanted to vanish but something held him on his place beside her.
Carolyn felt that something strong seemed employ Daniel. But what? She wanted to ask him but couldn't bring herself to do it. Suddenly she felt the Captain's hand on her upper arm. It was only like the wings of a butterfly, but she could feel it. How was it possible? Could it be that the Flying Dutchman had left some miracle behind him? It was the only explanation for this phenomenon. Or was it only her imagination to feel the Captain because she wanted it more than everything?
Daniel could feel her, too. The soft of her skin. He wanted her. But, NO, he couldn't let it happen. But it was too late. He pulled her in his arms and kissed her. But then he pushed her away when he realized what he had just done.
He wanted to vanish but Carolyn stopped him. "Wait, Captain! Please don't go." she pleaded. "It wasn't your doing alone. You know, you couldn't have done that had I not wanted it myself."
"I know that, my dear. We both know
that such a relationship should
never happen."
"I know!" was the only thing she could give him as answer. Now both stood silently beside each other and watched the setting sun.
